One of the most common questions we get, doesn’t tallow smell? We carefully render fat from grass-fed cows that doesn’t have a heavy “beefy” smell. In fact, our Pure Whipped Tallow is almost completely scent-free. Some people say it has a natural, light buttery aroma, which sounds pretty amazing if you ask us! After application the smell naturally fades away. If you're still unsure and looking for a little something extra, you can always try one of our scented products, they smell absolutely delicious!

Tallow balms are thicker and provide intense hydration, perfect for areas that need extra care, such as eczema, rashes, or lips. They offer deep moisturization for targeted treatment.
Tallow whips are creamier and lightweight, making them ideal for daily face moisturization and full-body use. They spread easily for smooth, seamless application and provide all-over hydration.

Tip: Warm the balm between your fingers before applying. Although our balms are more concentrated than our whips, they still spread easily.

Jojoba oil is the best choice for tallow skincare because it closely mimics the skin’s natural oils, allowing it to absorb quickly without clogging pores. It provides lightweight, non-greasy hydration that’s perfect for all skin types. Other oils like olive oil can feel heavier and may not absorb as well, potentially leading to clogged pores or a greasy feel. Jojoba oil enhances tallow’s moisturizing properties while keeping the skin balanced and nourished.

We craft everything in small batches to ensure you're always getting the freshest tallow possible. Once opened, we recommend using the product within 6 months to enjoy its full benefits. Proper storage in a cool, dry place will help maintain its quality even longer. To keep the product fresh and free from contamination, always use clean hands or a spatula when applying.

To keep your Silk Tallow products fresh and maintain its light, whipped texture, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. High temperatures may cause the product to melt, turning it into a solid balm rather than its original airy, whipped form. Avoid damp environments, as moisture on the surface can lead to the growth of bacteria and mold. We recommend keeping the product at room temperature for optimal use, as refrigeration may cause it to become too firm.

Our tallow products products are completely natural, so it can change consistency based on the temperature around it. In warmer environments, your tallow products may become softer, while in cooler temperatures, they may firm up.

If your whipped tallow melts, it’s still 100% usable, just more concentrated. If it becomes firmer, simply warm it between your fingers before applying. Balms can also soften in the heat and firm up in the cold. Sometimes they might get a grainy texture if exposed to very cold temperatures, but they are still perfectly usable.

Keep in mind: Silk Tallow products may melt if left in hot environments like a porch or mailbox. Feel free to contact us, we’re happy to help restore your products to their ideal texture!
